I was born and raised in San Francisco. I went to St. Agnes grammar school in the Haight-Ashbury, then to Star of the Sea Academy for High School. I graduated from CCSF and worked a variety of jobs all customer service orientated. I have worked off and on for Cuisinart since 1983 and work the International Housewares show every March. As much as I love the diversity of the city, I wanted to raise my children in a smaller town. My husband and I moved on my due date to Petaluma. I have 2 sons Matthew and Brandon and a beautiful grand daughter Emma. I was very fortunate to land at McKinley when my son Brandon started Kindergarten here. The people who worked here were like family. This intrigued me. I had some time off due to an injury, when Brandon was in second grade. I started volunteering. I had finally found my calling, CHILDREN! As jobs opened up, I applied, by far my favorite was working as an Instructional assistant. I enjoyed being in the classroom and working with groups of children. Due to budget cuts that job disappeared and one opened in the office. I started as a clerk typist and now I am the secretary of this amazing school. I am devoted to your children and try to treat each child as if they were my own.

Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  I fell in love with teaching in 1999 after my first teaching position in South Korea. I love going to school myself (finished two master’s degrees as well as a Juris Doctorate) and I love working with students and teachers. To me, McKinley is a special place because of the truly amazing staff and families at our school and I love spending my time here where I get to learn new things every day from colleagues, parents, and students. As I enter my fourth year as principal at McKinley, I hope to further realize our potential of offering students a world-class education. When I am not at school, I can be found spending time with my wife, Elizabeth, and our three children, Siena, Chiara, and Gabriel. For fun, I enjoy playing sports, traveling, playing with my chocolate labrador Huckleberry, and reading books and exploring with my children.  Go Mustangs!
