It is a pleasure to be at McKinley Elementary this year! This is my first year as the Guidance Specialist here and it has been wonderful! Everyone has welcomed me to the McKinley family; such a heart warming feeling! I was born and raised in Sonoma County. I attended Dominican University of San Rafael for my Bachelors in Psychology. My husband and I moved to Arizona for two and a half years where I started studying for my Maters in Counseling Psychology at Argosy University. I transferred back to California and completed my studies at Argosy University here. In the past four years I have expanded my knowledge by working with two different school districts and a local non-profit organization. This experience has broadened my expertise at many levels and provided me with many valuable lessons. I married my best friend six years ago and we just welcomed our son to our family this year (2014)! We enjoy being outdoors and cheering for the San Francisco Giants. I am passionate about photography and taking walks with our Queensland Heeler (Australian Cattle dog), Red. Family time is the best time and I am proud to now have an outstanding work family too! Cheers!

I have been working as Head Chef at McKinley for almost a year now. I graduated from Hueneme High in Port Hueneme, Ca.  I have been married for 25 years, with 5 amazing children and 4 beautiful grandchildren. The children at McKinley are a pleasure to be around. They are funny and always eager to help with anything I need. Some of my hobbies include cooking and trying out recipes on friends and family, and spending time with my grandchildren.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area and am a California girl through and through.  After graduating Heald Business College, I worked as a secretary for Chevron Corporation in San Francisco for 10 years, which is where I met my husband (Jim) of, now, 32 years!!  We moved to Petaluma from Tiburon and now have three “children” who are spread out across the country–Nathan (29 in Pennsylvania), Brian (24, USN, in Virginia Beach), and Sarah (22 attending Humboldt State).  All three of my children attended McKinley from K-6th grades, and I began working here 17 years ago.  When I am not working at McKinley, I also work at Walker Creek Ranch, an outdoor ed/conference facility run by the Marin County Office of Education. Jim and I spend part of our summers with his family on Block Island in Rhode Island; and, in my free time, I love to hang out with friends, walk the beach, or participate in a number of outdoor activities. I have been at McKinley as a parent and an employee, and it is the best school in Petaluma.

I was born, raised and received my education in San Francisco. That is also where I met my husband Terry of 28 years. After graduating from CCSF, where I earned my degree as a Medical Assistant, I worked for Kaiser Permanente for a number of years. My husband and I moved to Petaluma with our three children when we fell in love with the area and knew it would be a great place to raise a family. I have worked in the Petaluma City School District since 1999 and have held different positions during that time. These position have ranged from a Physical Education Instructor to working in the Primary Intervention Program. I have worked two years with the RSP students at McKinley, eight years as the Mentor Me Site Coordinator and this is my first year as the Library Coordinator. McKinley is a special place with a very dedicated staff that is a pleasure to work with each day. In my free time I enjoy reading, kayaking, hiking and spending time with our family working on projects at our cabin in Pollock Pines.

I was born in Southern California but mainly grew up in New York and Italy, as my family followed my father’s career moves. After high school in Italy, I went to University of California at Santa Barbara and Berkeley for my BA, and, after raising our four children, returned to school for two Masters degrees: Marriage and Family Therapy, and Pupil Personnel Service. I have been working in the Petaluma City Schools guidance program since 2005. For the past several years, I have worked at McKinley (as well as McDowell and Valley Vista). McKinley has a wonderful spirit of fun and cooperation, along with high academic standards – a great place to work. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, trying to figure out the names of the birds that flock to our feeders, and hanging out with my family and friends. I am a very happy Mustang!

I grew up in the foothills of southern California.  When I graduated from high school, I earned a full-ride volleyball scholarship to play division one volleyball at Stetson University, located in central.  I played for four years and graduated with my BS in Rehabilitative Studies.  From there I moved to San Rafael to get my masters degree in occupational therapy.  I graduated in May 2013 (woohoo!) and started working as a full-time therapist in August.  When I am not working with kiddos in Petaluma and Santa Rosa (I work at seven different schools) I am a volleyball coach with Marin Juniors volleyball club and coach the 11 and under girls team.  I love being outside, hiking and climbing trees.

I grew up in snowy Denver, Colorado. I attended Humboldt State University and University of Colorado for my B.S and San Francisco State for my masters degree in Communication Disorders. It has been very rewarding being a Speech Language Therapist since 1987 and working at McKinley for 13 years. I really enjoy and think highly of the students and staff at McKinley and love our “can do” attitude. During my free time, I  enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and kitties, reading, playing games, and doing outdoor activities. Mustangs are awesome!

Originally from Newtown Square, Pa., (outside of Phila.), I made my way west after graduating from college in Maryland with a B. A. in Elementary Education.  While still residing in the east, I taught 7th and 8th grade English.  After having served in the Navy for 5 years (in San Diego and Hawaii…tough duty!), I received my Masters in Multicultural Education from Pepperdine University.  With a keen desire to help struggling readers, and being an avid reader myself, I also pursued a Reading Specialist  credential at Fresno Pacific University where my husband and I were  living at the time.  I have published several articles on Reading and Writing and made many presentations at  Reading Association Professional Conferences.  I taught at Sonoma Country Day School in Santa Rosa for 13 years and have been fortunate to be part of the awesome McKinley staff since 2003.  And I do not say the word “awesome” lightly.   I am so proud to teach with these very talented teachers!   My husband, John Seil, coordinates the Homework Club and I have two wonderful grown children, Kara and Ryan.  In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, of course, and traveling, practicing Yoga and Pilates and playing with our dog, Chewy!

Born in San Francisco and raised  in San Rafael, I have not strayed far from the north Bay Area. I have been a resident of Petaluma for thirty-five years and raised my son, Justin (35), here.  After earning my BA in English from Sonoma State University, I was married and started my family.  When my son was ten, I returned to SSU and earned  multiple-subject  and special education teaching credentials.  I earned my Resource Specialist Certification through Marin County Office of Education.  After two part-time jobs at Petaluma Junior High School and Casa Grande High School, I found my niche at McKinley Elementary and have been here for twenty years. This has always been a special place to work, and I have felt so privileged to work with the lively children and with the amazingly dedicated and talented teaching and support staffs who have graced the halls of this school. Working with the students who just need a little extra support and then watching them take off is an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding life’s work. When I am not at work, I putter in my garden, take long walks with my dog and friends, read, or spend time with family.  My next trip is always on my mind.
